How it works Security Pricing After death About Get Your AngelPass
Our story

Built from a moment
every family dreads.

AngelPass was not born in a boardroom. It was born from a phone call — the kind where someone has just died, and the person on the other end of the line has no idea where to start.

Where it began

The problem is older than the internet. The solution shouldn't be.

When a loved one dies, the grief is immediate. The paperwork arrives shortly after. Somewhere between registering the death and writing the order of service, families discover that the practical side of death — the accounts, the policies, the utilities, the subscriptions — is a bureaucratic maze with no map.

We started AngelPass after experiencing this first-hand. Not as a statistic. As a family standing in a kitchen, surrounded by unopened post, trying to find a will that turned out to be on a password-protected laptop nobody could access.

"We thought: there has to be a better way. There wasn't one that we trusted. So we built it."

The concept is simple — almost obvious, in hindsight. A physical USB drive for documents. A password held in escrow until the moment it's needed. A service designed to be set up once and then forgotten — until the day it matters more than almost anything else.

We spent eighteen months getting the security model right before we launched a single subscription. That is not the usual startup approach. For us, it was the only approach.

Our journey

The moment

A family in chaos

The experience that made the problem impossible to ignore. Three weeks to find a will. Six months of misdirected direct debits. An insurance policy nobody knew existed.

Year one

Building the security model

Partnering with solicitors and cloud security specialists to design a split-custody model that no single point of failure could compromise.

Year two

Legal and compliance framework

ICO registration, GDPR compliance review, Cyber Essentials certification, and terms of service drafted with specialist legal counsel.

Launch

AngelPass opens to UK families

Starting with a small group of solicitor partners and their clients. Real families. Real feedback. Building something that truly works in the moments that matter.

Today

Growing carefully

Expanding our solicitor and IFA partnerships across the UK. Every new customer is a family we have spared the chaos we experienced ourselves.

What we stand for

Three things we will never compromise on.

01

Honesty above all

We will tell you exactly what we do, exactly how we do it, and exactly what we cannot do. This industry deals with grief and vulnerability — there is no room for small print, upselling, or anything that obscures the truth. If something goes wrong, you will hear it from us first.

02

Security without compromise

We built a service that we would trust with our own family's documents. That meant taking eighteen months to get the security model right before launching, partnering with regulated solicitors, and choosing split-custody storage even though it is harder to build. The right approach is rarely the easy one.

03

Dignity in difficult moments

Every death claim we process is a family at one of the hardest points in their lives. Our process is designed to be as simple and compassionate as possible. We do not automate the human moments. Every claim is handled by a person who understands what they are helping someone through.

The people behind AngelPass

A small team with a clear purpose

We are not a large corporation. We are a small, focused team — and we intend to stay that way.

⚖️

Legal and compliance advisers

AngelPass works with specialist legal counsel on GDPR compliance, consumer protection law, and the regulatory framework governing our escrow service. Our solicitor partner firm provides both the co-custody service and independent legal oversight of our death claim verification process. We are not doing this alone — and we believe that structure makes us stronger.

Our purpose

We exist to spare families one thing.

Death is unavoidable. The chaos that follows it is not.

Every year, millions of UK families spend weeks — sometimes months — untangling the financial and administrative aftermath of a death. Bank accounts they cannot access. Insurance policies nobody knew about. Subscriptions charging from a frozen account. Utilities that will not speak to anyone but the deceased.

This happens not because people do not care. It happens because nobody sat down and made it easy. There was no good solution. A solicitor can write a will, but cannot organise a decade of digital life into one accessible place. A password manager can store credentials, but cannot release them to a grieving family with a death certificate.

AngelPass does one thing, and it does it properly: it gives your family everything they need, exactly when they need it, without making an already difficult time any harder.

That is the whole business. That is what we are here for.

Our promises to you

What you can always expect from us

🔍

Complete transparency

We publish exactly how our security model works, who holds your password, and what happens in every scenario — including if we close. No small print. No surprises. If something changes, you will hear from us before it happens.

🏛️

Regulated professionals in the chain

Our solicitor partner firm is SRA-regulated and carries professional indemnity insurance. There is always a regulated professional with legal obligations involved in your password custody — not just a technology company making promises.

📞

A human being on every death claim

We will never fully automate the death claim process. Every claim is reviewed by a member of our team. Every family is treated with care and patience, not processed like a support ticket.

🔄

A plan for every outcome

We have formal policies covering what happens if we close, if a subscription lapses, if the nominated person dies, or if a claim is disputed. We have thought through the hard questions — because our customers deserve that rigour before they sign up, not after.

📬

Honest communication

We will never use your grief, your family's vulnerability, or the emotional weight of this service to sell you something you do not need. Our pricing is clear. Our upsells are optional. Our communications are straightforward.

🌱

Growing carefully

We will not scale faster than our ability to serve every customer well. A death claim is not a volume exercise. We would rather grow slowly and get every single one right than expand quickly and fail a family at the worst possible moment.
